JapaneseWall 禅壁ブログ
Simply the Healthier Wall~ Japanese Wall, otherwise known as the Zen Wall, has graced the walls of Japanese temples, castles, homes and teahouses for over a century. An exquisite substance which successfully fuses the aesthetics of both the classical and the avant-garde, it is now used extensively in modern architecture, where it exudes its old world meets new world charm in both residential and commercial buildings. We love Zen Wall!

San Juan's Natural Balance House is Ready~
The Natural Balance House is finally finished and furnished!
We are proud to be one of the contributors of Natural Balance House on San Juan Island, of which the interior walls and ceilings is covered with straw-laced Wabi of our Japanese Wall@Zen Wall--- which is 100% non-toxic and non-VOC. Wabi is made not only to look beautiful, but more importantly to enhance healthier indoor environment, by absorbing and disintegrating formaldehyde and VOC. Also not forgetting to mention the beautiful stone finishes throughout the property.
The plastering work of Zen Wall was skillfully done by Berkeley based Level Five's Rye Hudak.
For more information about Natural Balance House, please visit http://www.naturalbalancehouse.com/
Please also visit www.japanesewall.com and b.japanesewall.com for more information.

PS: We will be posting more photos of the completed work at Blue Ribbon @ The Cosmopolitan Hotel, LV in due course.

Kinjuraku + Tenkou
Don't think that JWall is only to be used for feature wall. Because of the many positive benefits, it can be applied in the entire house on walls and ceilings. It is not just beautiful but also green alternative to paint!
Bedroom with a hint of bling and nature.
Good combination of Tenkou (Ginryo) and Kinjuraku (Maple). Two completely different textures blended so harmoniously side by side. Tenkou is fiber texture while Kinjuraku is metallic sand.
Beautiful workmanship of Tenkou.
Photos were forwarded by Alla's happy client in Russia.

Dadong
As you walk up the grand staircase of one of the most talked-about Dadong Peking Roast Duck Restaurant at Dongsishitiao, Dongcheng District, turn left toward the main dining hall. As you enter, you will see this beautiful earthy wall which blends in the Chinese element with Japanese look.
A close-up look at the texture. Play around with Wabi, Siltouch to get some more texture.

Happy Ebisu Festival~
So, Jan. 10-12 marks Ebisu Festival (戎祭り-literally means the festival of the god of fishermen and prosperity) in Osaka~ So what do we do? This is the day most business people will go to the shrine (神社-jinjya) and pray for business success and prosperity. This year seems completely awesome~ weather was good too! In conjunction to this, it was also also Coming of Age Day (成人の日 to mark the 20 years of age for girls reaching their adulthood) on January 11. So many girls in beautiful, expensive kimonos on the street to celebrate it.
Here's a video of the festival to bring the best of luck and prosperity to everyone.

Rye Hudak's Works
Rye of Level 5 Design is probably one of the first few J-Wall applicators in the West Coast. He has over 6 years of experience working with Wara Juraku and the other sand-based materials.
Perfect ambience~
See how the wall is not just done in one way? It just takes some creativity and artistic skills to create a wabi sabi beautiful wall.
Like I said before, application can be done on any kind of architecture, any room, any theme. We have so many colors and textures to choose from~
Even ceilings can be applied.
Bling bling feature wall~
Wara Juraku will always be one of my favorite series after Wabi
For more information on Rye's work, please email info@levelfivedesign.com or call 510-665-9013
